I might take Enrive down temporarily, for some months to a year if interest in it remains this low. Since 2016, there were enough lurkers that the server costs were paying for itself with ads. So even if posting was low or we had no activity, I lost nothing by keeping us online. But at this moment, there are very few people browsing the site compared to what it used to be during 2014-2017 and ads only pay for 1/3 of the costs. It has gotten expensive to continue keeping us up when we have almost no posters, and when I have become so busy with my other business that I don't think I'll be able to code Enrive for a while. While I'll miss this place, there is no justification to keep it online if people are not interested in it, and it would be a better strategy to take it offline and only bring it back online in the future when I have finished coding it, or have more spare time and money to invest in it. If you like Enrive and want to support it and would prefer to keep it online, then help make the site grow at least a little. Doubling our Online Users to an 80 average should be enough that at least it is not a monetary burden on me any longer. I know that at least one person seems to be banned from every forum out there and Enrive is his only outlet, but due to the costs I may not be able to keep us up just for 1 or 2 people posting. Not with the world in the current monetary crisis it is. If I take us offline I will do so in 2 to 3 months. Enough time to mature the idea and I don't think I want to expend more money than that when I have been doing so for a year now. And just to be clear, it's not about the money, it is about the money + little interest on the website. The money I can save for not hosting us for a year may be much better spend re-hosting us in the future when the site is fully developed and where I can also put the time to work further on it.

Dear Admin: All you'll get is more mental illness, call it masterchan and you'll get pedospam. I've lurked here since the beginning, and imageboards since 1995. I've owned many boards, porn by invitation only, warez boards and so on. The net has changed if you can't see that then there is no help for you. There was a time when we all helped one another and believed in imaginary concepts, like sharing and manners. But human consciousness has changed, and you want to continue to live in the past. Everyone has tried to revive the true imageboard brotherhood but to no avail. When I saw Lokinet for example and read that a board there can't be taken down, it's almost impossible, I started thinking. But I know the kind of mentality that would come to populate the place and decided not to waste my time. Whatever you decide to fill up your time with will be the right thing to do, and I wish you the best always and hope you are happy enough. WiZarD :^)

Was on vacations taking a break, but now I'm back. Before messing with more code, I want to fix the mobile layout (the content is displayed at only half of the screen size), and also give some basic board filtering and board discovery features to the front page. I am awful at CSS, so if anyone can pinpoint the solution by looking at the CSS+markup let me know.

>>25919 I don't think you even understand the meaning of "secret" there (but then again, you think the size of people's noses is some kind of indication of evil, so that's to be expected). It's a pretty retarded things to have, though: You can't tell users about this secret, because then it wouldn't be secret, but you can't keep it a secret, because then nobody would come there. ...except the secret was leaked anyway, to the point where it was the second search result on Google for a while. It was such a retarded idea that no wonder that YOU would want it back.

It is time for a new /b/admin. We've had a few of them in the past. Some doxxed themselves and I let them go, some just didn't work out, and I'm not sure what happened to the very last one. If the discord admin is someone who enjoys something like 4chan's old /b/, I would give the board to him, since he seems like someone that cares and puts work into things, given what he did with our discord. If he is not interested, I will give it to a random pun anon and let's hope he does a good job. And if there are people who strongly want to /b/admin even if discord admin wants as well, I can do some sort of lottery to see who wins. What I can't do right now is have multiple mods for /b/ at this moment, it would not work well due to a lack of mod audit tool. In the past, I kinda tried letting badmins sort their own rules, and just asked to try and make something that rewards creativity, but I felt the rules were always messy and not objective. So this time I'm handing down the rules I feel work well with an official /b/ board, and ask that the admin respects it: >1) On topic threads are for creative content. Someone saying something that wasn't said before, someone asking users to post cows on fish chan, people making their own variations of some image. Anything that is creative or inspires people to be creative. As philosoraptor says, it can't be called random if it is always the same threads and reposts. >2) Anything else is off topic. Political discussions, talking about people (especially if in romantic or sexual manner), waifus, personal blog posts, requests. This is to ensure we never end like 4chan's /b/, which was once the main board now has become a boring place for posting porn.

>Since only one person has shown interest in /b/admin this time around, and not decisively, I will attempt moderating myself for a while and hopefully it work out well and we can keep its system for the future. Soon I'll start sorting out threads I think that's a good idea, since you have an idea of how you want to profile this site, and what your style of "creativity" is, and it pretty much comes down to how you choose to moderate /b/. At least for a while, you need to set examples on how to moderate.

So, what is next in development? >The same way I improved the site code, I want to improve the database code (the software that actually stores posts, user accounts and so on). It is a very small task in comparison to the time it took me changing the site code, but I want to read a few programming books so give me 2 months at most to get this done, as real life obligations sometimes take a lot of my time. If not, I may get it done in some 2 to 3 weeks. >After that, I think the next step is to invest into board owner tools. We need to have a sense of community to grow, and if board owners cannot properly manage their boards that gets in the way of that. They need to be able to add moderators, moderate the moderators, and so on. >Next, I need to add a proper moderation system where global mods are publicly accountable for what they do, and so unfairly banned users or posts can be restored as if nothing happened. >Then, we need to improve the visuals of what we already have, some areas of the site are very raw, and I need to bring back things that were already working (filtering the frontpage, auto update, donating posts) What do you think? Also, if someone wants to create a discord server for us, I will add its link to the header.

I have added the link to our discord. You can click on the top right corner, or here https://discord.gg/EZDZUGP Discord is not anonymous, nor a place for political discussion (any sort of hate speech, which passes for everything nowadays, will get you banned from it, along with the user who created the server. So whoever our discord admin is, you'll have to deal with their strong terms of service if you want the room to stay alive). It is just for us to have fun and meme with one another, and create a bigger sense of community to help us grow. Real life has prevented me from coding again, but I should get back to it next week. Closing this global thread for now. Please join the discord or Kmar will fire me if I don't meet my quota.

Huge success. The new code has been implemented. If you find any bugs, report them here and how it happened. What changed: >AnonymousID is RIP. It was removed entirely and now we have just 1 user account to both post and make boards. The old system was confusing and unnecessary. All previous anon IDs have become regular user accounts, maintaining their username, password, post count and active days. If you had an anonID with the same name as your user account, your user account has gained all the postcount and active days from it (but the password remains that of your user account). Finally, if your anon ID's name was taken by someone else's user name, then you lost access to that. If that happened to you, and you had an anonymous ID with a high post count and active days you'd like to maintain, let me know and I can check the old database and fix it manually for you, since there won't be many cases where that happened if happened at all. >IP posting has been enabled again. Please be kind to outlanders. >The old frontpage's search system was moved to its own URL. This is because I intend to add popup ads only to the search page. I feel that that will be a good enough compromise, where everywhere else you can browse without interruptions, but the search system which people use with less frequency can help generate a lot of revenue to pay for server costs. >Some features have been temporarily removed but will come back later: post donation, filtering the search page, skrt, the catalog.

Had a lot of IRL responsibilities these past few weeks, but coded whenever I had free time. When posting fails, you no longer lose the contents of your post. Instead, you are presented with the post form again, so you may fix it and resubmit without having to hit the back button. I am certainly behind where I wanted to be, as I'm still merely doing post validation, and after that comes inserting a post in the database which is hard work too. But every day we get closer to our much needed reboot and reopening to outlanders.

Dealing with some personal chores, but should be implementing the new code sometime this week or weekend once I am done with that. I will make a new global thread before rebooting us.

Back to work. Can't wait to get this finished. New postform will be more practical. The drop down list Looks ugly, and I'll rely on someone with CSS artistic skills to help me with the layout later on.

in the USA there gonna do everything they can to deflect attention away from 'guns', they will blame 8chan or anybody else for mass shootings ...anybody or anyone . so long as the gun-laws dont come into question
